Suspicious vehicles and No cold Callers Newton on Trent

Alert message sent 14/09/2018 17:57:00

Information sent on behalf of Lincolnshire Police

Hello from Gainsborough Rural South NPT
Yesterday there were two reports of a suspicious vehicle in Newton on Trent.  As Newton on Trent is one of the few villages where the whole of it is a No Cold Calling Zone, residents are reminded that anyone trying to sell something at the door, be it garden services or sales of garden furniture, the residents do not have to answer the door (ideally open a window if you wish to talk to them) and sellers should be politely reminded that it is a NCC Zone.  There is signage throughout the village.   Some sellers can be persuasive and in some cases get abusive so please know you do not have to put up with that and report them to  101.  In this case the van was reported to police and whilst an area search was negative we would ask residents to be vigilant especially with the theft of several motor vehicles from the village and report any suspicious vehicles or persons.

Thank you
