Lead thefts - Increase in reports

Alert message sent 25/09/2018 10:41:00

Information sent on behalf of Lincolnshire Police

Over the last few months lead thefts from churches have been reported across the Lincolnshire area, although only a few in number at this time, it is an increase from the normal month to month reports. At this time there is no specific information as to who may be responsible, the quantities taken vary from small to the majority of the roof material, so it could be that different groups are involved. The smaller amounts are likely to be opportunists, whereas the larger amounts will be a planned operation.

Please call 101 to report any suspicious activity in the vicinity of churches and historical buildings where lead is used. If you require any advice regarding security you can contact my-self and I can advise or forward your request to our crime prevention officer.

If a theft is in progress use the 999 number.
