Incident of note in Horncastle

Alert message sent 19/02/2020 17:13:00

Information sent on behalf of Lincolnshire Police

Good afternoon,

I would like to update you with a matter that happened earlier this afternoon, Wednesday 19th February.

If you noted a greater presence of police vehicles in the Horncastle area between 1pm and 1.30pm today, it was because Lincolnshire Police were informed of a vehicle that had failed to stop for officers in the Humberside Police area. The vehicle was understood to have entered into our county from the border, north of Louth.
With the benefit of our officers' excellent local knowledge and skill, we were able to successfully track the vehicle without need for interception, being one step ahead and engaging with the vehicle safely as soon as it stopped, without risk to the public. The driver was dealt with appropriately and the vehicle was seized.

The greater presence of police vehicles may have caused some alarm, however, the matter was resolved quickly and safely.

I am keen to inform you of matters like this more frequently so you are aware of what your local officers are involved with, and the successes we have, which mostly go unreported.

We rely heavily on information, so please do get in touch with us if you have any information which may assist us in the prevention and/or detection of crime. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Thank you.
